Marc Falcone, Chief Financial Officer for Station Casinos, recently stated that lack of consumer awareness has kept New Jersey's newly regulated online gambling industry from reaching its full potential. Other Atlantic City casino executives concur with his view. They also found that there is still a stigma against online gambling that has deterred some people from playing. Caesars Entertainment has come up with a creative idea to brand the new industry in a more positive light.

They will be hosting an online poker tournament at Bally's. However, there is a bit of a twist to this tournament. According to a recent article from Poker News Report, all of the contestants will be New Jersey mayors. The four mayors that have confirmed participation are David Salkin of Freehold, Steve Fulop of Jersey City, Don Purdy of Galloway and John Ducey of Brick. Caesars expects other mayors will sign up before the tournament kicks off.

Michael Staskin, Caesars Vice President of marketing, said that the tournament is a great way to celebrate the six month anniversary of legalized online gambling. He said that New Jersey politicians have been instrumental to the growth of the online gambling industry. Caesars feels that the new tournament will allow New Jersey mayors to experience it.

Caesars will donate $10,000 to the winner's favorite charity. Caesars feels that this tournament will help people realize that online gambling is a safe and regulated industry. The charitable donation will also show that the revenue from online gambling can benefit the state. Caesars and other casinos want New Jersey citizens to realize that some of their revenue will be used to fund social programs.
